Even if you're not an NBA fan, even if you're not of Asian descent, Lin's story has been fantastically fun to watch.
No one had even heard of Lin a mere week ago. Lin was undrafted coming out of Harvard. What Harvard NBA pros do you know by name?
Me either.
Lin had been cut by two previous teams, and was on the verge of being cut by the Knicks until, due to injuries at the point guard position, they had no choice but to play him. Boy, are the Knicks and the rest of the NBA fan world glad - play did Lin.
That was four games ago...
Since then, he's been the talk of the town in the town of all towns, the Big Apple!
Today, you can't turn watch ESPN, or read the sports page without seeing Lin on the front page.
Last night, against the formidable Lakers who had dominated the Knicks for nine straight wins against them, Lin proved that he's no fluke by scoring 38 and controlling most of the game for the Knicks.
The thing I love about Lin is that this is such a refreshing story coming out of professional sports. For the most part, we're bombarded with stories of players with bad attitudes doing bad things.
On top of all that, he's been humble - sharing the spotlight and glory with his team-mates.
Way to go Jeremy Lin!
Thank you for coming on the scene. After reading one dreadful story after another in the news these days, your story has been a welcome breath of fresh air.
I wish you the best and look forward to seeing you play for many years to come.
